We are so grateful to those who have been willing to take on a challenge and raise funds for our organisation!
Along with our Partners who give regularly for a short time or for the long haul, it’s events like these that make a big difference in helping us support families.
We want to say thank you to you all!
Here are some of your hero moments
In 2021 brothers Callum and Joseph Beecher took on the gruelling Tough Mudder challenge to raise money for Care for the Family.
Joseph said: “We know how important good support is when a family is adopting or fostering. Our younger sister, Tabita, became part of our family over 10 years ago. We received much support from family and friends and that is just what Care for the Family does for families in similar circumstances. We also love how they practically support bereaved families, provide holidays for single parents, and much more. It was a pleasure to raise money for such a great cause.”
Thank you Callum and Joseph
In 2021 Ian Robinson ran the Great Northern Run in memory of his son Peter. The fundraising challenge was picked to mark Ian’s 61st birthday (postponed from 2020 in celebration of his 60th birthday).
Ian raised £1,285 for Care for the Family’s Bereaved Parent Support. He said: “Their support is provided through a team of befrienders who are all themselves bereaved parents. This organisation provided invaluable support to me and my wife when we lost our son Peter to a brain tumour in 2004. We now volunteer with them as befrienders ourselves.”
Thank you Ian
In 1994 Ian and Carolyn celebrated their Silver Wedding and raised over £1000 by asking for donations for Care for the Family rather than presents. They did the same for their 30th wedding anniversary, their Ruby Wedding and for their Golden Wedding celebrations in 2019, raising a total of around £3,000.
Ian and Carolyn said: “So what can you say about us? We don’t like presents? Well actually we do BUT we’ve been blessed in our lives and we want to be a blessing to others. So why do we keep choosing to support Care for the Family? We think Care for the Family have a perfect blend of practical, hands-on support for families in difficulty combined with training programmes to support many aspects of family life.”
Thank you Ian and Carolyn
Nich Cunliffe has undertaken some heroic feats to raise money for two charities close to his heart – Care for the Family’s Bereaved Parent Support and El Shaddai in India.
In 2016 Nich travelled 550km on bike across India, from Bangalore to Varkala, in eleven days.
Two years later he completed a 15-day trek through the Himalayas.
Thank you Nich
Sammy Rashid ran the London Marathon in 2019 after his cousin’s family suddenly and unexpectedly lost their five-year old daughter, Keziah.
Sammy said: “Care for the Family was a charity that Keziah’s family had supported on her behalf. I would once again like to say a massive thank you to all the people who sponsored me. After a little flurry in the last couple of days of the page being live, we managed to raise £2,972.83, including Gift Aid, for which the charities and I are all extremely grateful for.”
Thank you Sammy
Janice Ramkissoon raised over £300 for Care for the Family on the occasion of her 45th birthday.
Janice said: “My family have benefited from the courses, seminars and other resources that Care for the Family provides. In order to make a difference to other struggling families like ours, I chose to promote the charity for my 45th birthday. This took the form of a birthday ‘Praise’ celebration, encouraging donations to the charity, in lieu of birthday gifts.”
Thank you Janice
Jamie and Nic Amott, along with several church friends, decided to take on three Aberdeenshire peaks as a fundraising challenge on behalf of Care for the Family.
The group raised £465 simply because they wanted to help support families in crisis.
Thank you Jamie, Nic and friends
